The New Year resolution-ers are probably scoffing at me right now. I can almost hear them say, “Psh! Shouldn’t you have done your goals in the beginning of the year?”
I don’t believe in New Year resolutions; I strongly feel that if there’s a change we need to make in life, it shouldn’t have to wait until the start of the year. I wanted to get in the groove of writing consistently. I had to re-prioritize and I made sure that Breaking Boundaries was getting the focus it needed. I tied up loose ends and got a few things sorted out. Now that I have more of my time under my control, I am finally able to sit back and really think about what I’d like to accomplish this year.
Bring back spontaneity and adventure in my life. I remember when I was younger and whenever the mood would strike, I’d just up and leave. It doesn’t matter what I was doing really, just as long as I was in motion. As we get older, I feel as if life starts becoming nothing but a routine. Though that may work for some, it’s not the kind of life I envision for myself.
I’m making it a non-negotiable this year to foster better relationships. I’ve neglected close friendships under the false assumption that I had to drop everything in order to succeed. Simply untrue. I mean, we do have to be aware of where we spend our time. By this, I mean I want to have better people around me who are motivated, passionate, and action-takers. People who are wildly driven to succeed and make an impact.
I’d like to be more involved in my church. I attend the weekly worship services, but I want to go beyond that and participate in church events. This has been rough for me in the past couple of years, so I’m going to get better at it this year.
Quit my job by the end of September 2017. I’d like to wake up in a different part of the world on Monday morning if I so choose.
Since its launch about 2 months ago, Breaking Boundaries has been growing. I’m going to really focus on scaling it to a 6-figure income within this year. I’m also going to create my first product and build my email list to 10k+ subscribers.
I’ve done pretty well with meet ups and events to get the brand name out there. I’d like to attend 2+ start up networking events per month and meet with founders at least twice a month to increase brand familiarity. I’m also going to start having pop up tents/booth with promotional merchandise to help build the community.
For this, I’m going to learn how to efficiently and effectively use social media to grow and market my brand.
We’re a two-person team right now here at BB. I don’t intend on hiring anyone, but I do wanna build a support team. It’s kind of like the “mastermind alliance” that Napoleon Hill spoke about in his book, Think and Grow Rich. Also, I intend on finding a mentor to help navigate and guide me on the road to success.
Basically, continue eating clean and healthy. Start with juicing and more meal prep rather than buying food.
This is a huge one for me. I drink about 8 oz of water every day and that’s way less than I should be drinking. So, I’m going to change this and just drink more plain water.
5k and Obstacle Runs
My first 5k in years is going to be in May. After that, I’d like to complete an obstacle run. I’m going to be more consistent in my workouts. Yes, even in the winter.
A lot more traveling in general. A LOT more.
