Final Update on Get Moving. Get Healthy: Developing Better Habits

PC: Ariel Bolesa

This is it!! 4 weeks of getting back into the habit of eating cleaner and getting a bit more exercise in. If you missed the first post where I wrote about my goal, here it is. Here are the posts for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd weekly updates.

It’s About Our Habits

“Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going.” – Jim Rohn

The above quote definitely applies to my month long goal of getting back on track with good eating habits and more physical activity. I was determined to lose the excess weight I have gained from bad habits and, basically, just being lazy about working out.

Two years’ worth of terrible habits means it’s going to take longer than a month to get back to where I once was, but it’s definitely a start. Each week that’s passed, I tried to up the ante from the prior week and I think that’s what made the difference. That way, it wasn’t too big of a change too soon.

What’s New On this Update?

Surprisingly, even after the holidays, it was easy to get back into eating healthier. I think it’s because I’ve gotten used to it for 3 weeks before the holidays started. My mindset has definitely changed. I used to reset my goal and push it back if I fell off the wagon. Now, though, I don’t push back my fitness goal to when I think I can commit. Instead, I just do better the next day. Small progress each day leads to huge results down the road.

What’s Next?

As always, maintain what I have accomplished so far and just get better everyday. My 6-month goal is to get back into doing 5k runs. I think I’ll start with the color run and then move on to the obstacle races.

Also, I lost 3 lbs. 😀 One lb. short of my goal BUT THAT’S OKAY! I know, with dedication and commitment, I’ll be back in shape in no time.

What about you? Care to share your fitness goals in the comments? 🙂

  1. I have lost over forty pounds in the past year and am mostly working on maintenance. I have found that besides cutting back on simple carbs and gluten the real secret to losing weight and staying in shape is lifting weights. I just do arm exercises with ten pound weights. It is hard to stay on track but I’ve found a consistent routine is key.

    1. Hi Leah! Congrats on losing 40 lbs.! 😀 Thanks for the suggestion with weight lifting. Definitely going to put that in effect since I’ve mostly been doing cardio.

      Thanks for stopping by!
